In 1962 he joined the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Cold War and the Viet Nam Conflict. He was assigned to the Strategic Air Command at Plattsburgh New York as an Air Policeman. His duties included Nuclear Security and Law Enforcement. He was transferred to the Military Airlift Command at Lajes Field in the Azores Islands where he served until he was honorably discharged in 1966.

David attended Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh until 1967 when he moved to Miami, Florida and transferred to the University of Miami where he completed a BA degree in Sociology in 1969 and a J.D. Degree in 1972 during which year, he was admitted to the Florida Bar. David practiced law from 1972 until 1999 years with extensive experience in the following areas:

  • Appeals-brief writing and oral argument
  • Automotive
  • Collection

In 1999, David began his mediation career with the Miami-Dade County's Court Mediation Unit, where he mediated all types of cases. In 2004 with the Article V Constitutional Revisions he transferred to employment to The State of Florida and began doing exclusively Family and Dependency cases.

During this time, David was an adjunct professor and taught a Probate and Trust Course at the Wolfson Campus of the Miami-Dade University. He also conducted seminars for the Dispute Resolution Center, Supreme Court Justice Teaching Program, and the Florida Bar in mediation related topics.

In March of 2005 David transferred to Tallahassee, Florida as a mediator and in July of 2005 he was promoted to Director of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Unit of the Second Judicial Circuit of Florida where he managed a very successful Court Based Mediation Unit. He retained that position until his retirement for State Government in October, 2011.

At that time, he began private practice in the fields discussed.
