DEPENDENCY MEDIATION CERTIFICATION TRAINING

David A. Wolfson has been a mediator for ten years.  He is certified in all possible areas in Florida, Family, Dependency, Civil Circuit and County.  He is an Assistant Trainer in all of these areas and a Primary Trainer in Dependency. 

David has conducted thousands of mediations in his career including hundreds of Dependency and Termination of Parental Rights cases during that time. 

Mr. Wolfson has been intimately involved in the Juvenile Justice System for 31 years.  During that time, he was a Guardian Ad Litem, a Guardian Ad Litem Attorney and the lead Termination of Parental Rights Attorney for the Department of Children and Families.  He has tried over 100 Dependency or Termination of Parental Rights cases during his tenure with the Department.

The Dependency Certification Training he conducts is a Certified Training Program approved by the Supreme Court of Florida.  It consists of 40 hours of intensive instruction.  David uses mixed media ranging from lectures, power point presentations, demonstrations, and video films.  In addition, a number of role play mediation will be conducted in which each student will act as a mediator and a disputant at least once.  The role plays will be critiqued by a professional certified assistant trainer.

The topics of the training are dependency law, mediator's standards of conduct, ethics, diversity, psychological aspects of the Dependency System, Domestic Violence, communication techniques, community resources, breaking impasse, use of caucus, general mediation techniques, and court process.

Leonia Maresch, a licensed mental health expert , and a Certified Dependency, Family, and County Mediator, will be the guest speaker and will present the segments on domestic violence and the psychological aspects of the Dependency System.

Included in the price of the training will be the Dependency Module of Nutshell Office Production's Dependency Mediation Module, a software program which, among several other things, prepares all the documentation necessary or desirable for mediations.

The cost of the training is $850.00 with a $25.00 discount if paid thirty days in advance of the starting date.  If you are a full time employee of the State of Florida, please inquire into our State Discount.  Daily lunch and snacks are included in the tuition.
